Cody Rec Center Hopes to Open ASAP

The Cody Rec Center is opening as soon as possible.

With Governor Gordon’s amended public health orders allowing gyms to reopen under a series of new restrictions, the Cody Rec Center is working hard to make sure they can safely open. That requires the permission of the county health officer, who was scheduled to tour the center and determine if the facility was able to open – and how many people it could open to.

Mike Fink, the Recreation, Aquatics, and Facilities Superintendent at the Cody Rec Center, says that the Center will open to members only at first, to ensue only a small number of locals are using the facility. And there will be numerous changes for everyone’s safety. Everyone will be given a spray bottle and rag to wipe down their machines before and after they are used. Locker rooms, the steam room, and the hot tub will all be closed. You’ll need to shower at home, and come to the Rec Center in your swimwear if you intend to swim lanes. All equipment will be spaced 6 feet apart and Rec Center ask that you come with a plan, and don’t linger by machines that might not be available.

The good news is that the Rec Center won’t be closing in August for its annual cleaning. They’ve already done all their maintenance for the year.

Check the Rec Center’s Facebook page for the most up-to-date information on the status of the center.
