After weeks of voting, Cody secures its place as one of the most artistic places in the nation but misses the supreme spot on USA Today’s Reader’s Choice list.
USA Today enlisted the American people to vote in one of their 10 Best Readers Choice lists for 2021. Travel experts select 20 nominees in contests covering several topics – food, lodging, destinations, etc. – and let readers vote on the best. For this list, Cody made the cut.
Twenty small towns across the nation were chosen and are now competing for the title of “the Best Small Town Art Scene.” Each competing location has fewer than 30,000 residents (as of the 2010 census) but supports a diverse collection of art museums, art galleries, performing arts, and busy event calendars.
After over a month of voting, Cody finished voting as the 6th Best Small Town Arts Scene.
The top 10 winners in the Best Small Town Arts Scene are as follows:
- Tubac, Arizona
- Rahway, New Jersey
- Gatlinburg, Tennessee
- Lucas, Kansas
- Eureka Springs, Arkansas
- Cody, Wyoming
- Taos, New Mexico
- West Rutland, Vermont
- Manitou Springs, Colorado
- Stockbridge, Massachusetts
Cody’s description listed several local art galleries and the Buffalo Bill Art Show and Sale to explain why travel experts chose our town as one of the twenty small towns for the poll.
The former home of Buffalo Bill now hosts a vibrant arts community, thanks to the Cody Country Art League, Big Horn Galleries, Simpson Gallagher Gallery, and Mountain Valley Artistry. Visit during the annual Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale to find pieces celebrating the American West.
Cody was in 7th place on the list at the beginning of April. Based on its final placement, it’s clear the nation and the Cody community responded and showed its support.
The Rendezvous Royale took Cody’s 6th place finish as an opportunity to thank everyone who voted.
