Commitments and confusion from the Cody Stampede Rodeo.
The last week has been a tumultuous time for Cody’s rodeo scene, beginning with the announcement that, after consultation from the Governor and rodeo representatives ,Wyoming’s six largest rodeos – Cheyenne Frontier Days, the Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo, The Cody Stampede, Thermopolis Cowboy Rendezvous PRCA Rodeo, Laramie Jubilee Days, and Sheridan WYO Rodeo – were being cancelled for Summer 2020. This was immediately countered by the Cody Stampede Rodeo Board, which declared its independence and pledged the Cody Stampede Rodeo would continue as planned.
Yesterday, the Board took to Facebook for some announcements. After receiving authorization to proceed, the Cody Night Rodeo’s start date has been set for June 20th. They highly recommend everyone purchase tickets in advance, as the limited capacity of 600 spectators per night will fill up quickly. You can’t purchase tickets right now, as the Cody Stampede Rodeo website is being rebuilt to accommodate the changes. They hope to have it up and running soon.
As for the Stampede and Xtreme Bulls? Ticket sales are currently on hold. According to the Facebook post – “We are working with the State of Wyoming and PRCA ProRodeo to host our 4th of July celebration. Again, please be patient with us.”
