Cody Kids Sing At The Wyoming Children’s Honor Choir Event

Children, teachers, faculty from Cody Middle School, Livingston and Sunset Elementary Schools gathered in Buffalo, Wyoming on Saturday for the annual Wyoming Children’s Honor Choir performance.

6 Cody Middle Schools kids anchored the elementary schools in performing a selection of songs at Buffalo High School.  The children sang compositions like, Cantate Domino, Down to the River to Pray, Where the Light Begins, El Vito, When I am Silent, and Ose Shalom.

As far as the degree of difficulty of the song selections, one student from Cody Middle school said some songs were “difficult,” some were “easy,” but because of diligent practice, everyone pulled together and did a wonderful job of singing the selected songs.

Another student from Cody Middle School remarked that the performance “went well.”  Led by Anissa Bree, choir teacher for CMS and CHS, she told the kids before their performance that she was “proud” of the them for working hard on their parts and “I know you guys are going to do great.”

This year the program was led by Dr. Holly Dalrymple who is an associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Southwestern University.  Dr. Dalrymple has directed middle school and high school choir programs in Richardson, Plano, and Pflugerville, Texas.  She also served as the Associate Director of Choral Activities (2013-2019) at the University of Wyoming.  While at UW, Dr. Dalrymple led choirs that programs for the Wyoming Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association of Northwest Conference in Portland, Oregon.

After taking a break because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wyoming Children’s Choir program re-started last year in Sheridan, Wyoming.  Cody Middle School will host the program in 2024.
