The Cody Cubs were back in action Tuesday as they traveled up to the treasure state for a contest with the Billings Upper Deck Expos.
It was a total team effort for the Cubs who powered their way to a 16-8 victory.
Ben Reinker took to the hill for his 3rd start of the season and picked up his 2nd win of the summer. Reinker tossed 4 innings of 7-hit ball while allowing 6 runs (3 earned) walked 3 and struck out 2.
The bullpen duo of Kaden Kondelis and Jace Jarrett combined to throw 5 innings of 5 hit ball, while giving up 2 runs, both earned and struck out 3, in relief.
Offensively, the Cubs poured it on early, scoring 7-runs in the 1st inning.
Eli Johnston led the way with 3 hits while scoring 2-runs.
4 Cubs would tally multiple hits in the contest.
Billings would battle back. After Cody took a 10-3 lead after 2-innings, the Expos scored the games next 3 runs to cut the Cubs lead down to 10-6.
The Cubs responded with a big 6th inning, plating 4 and putting the game out of reach.
Dominic Phillips cashed in with a triple and a home run in back-to-back innings to help the Cubs pull away.
In all, the Cubs scored 16 runs on 13 hits.
With the win the Cubs are now 7-10 on the season and are riding a 3-game win streak.
