Cody Cubs Baseball Splits the Weekend with Miles City

The Cody Cubs American Legion Baseball team was up in the Treasure State taking on Miles City, Mont., for a full weekend of games.

The teams would split the weekends action with Miles City winning both games on Saturday and the Cubs sweeping Sunday’s action.

Let’s take a look at Sunday’s action first.

The Cubs won game 1, 10-5.

Trey Schroeder would take to the hill in game 1 and picked up the win, tossing 6 innings. He gave up 9 hits, 5 runs, 4 earned, walked 4 and struck out 2.

William Duke and the Bailey brothers would power the Cubs offensively as they combined for 6 RBI on the day. Duke had 3 hits in the contest, none bigger than his bases clearing double.

In game 2, the Cubs would win 14-7.

Wyatt Carlson would pick up the win in his 1st start this season. He went 4 innings and gave up 5 hits, 5 runs, 4 earned, while striking out 3.

Kaden Kondelis and Miles Bailey came on in relief to hold the win.

It was the top of the order that made things happen in this one and Trey Thomasson collected 3 hits with Eli Johnston tallying 4. They combined to score half the teams runs.

Duke added three more RBI’s to his total in this one as well.

On Saturday, the Cubs would fall in game 1 by a final of 12-4 and lost game 2, 9-7.

Some highlight from Saturday include Trey Schroeder belting his first 2 Home Runs of the season while Wyatt Carlson would hit his 2nd Home Run of the Summer.

Following all the action, the Cubs are now 6-10 on the season.

Up Next: The Cubs are back at it, Tuesday May 30th, traveling up to Billings for a single 9-inning game against the Expos. First pitch at 4pm.

On Thursday, June 1st, the Cubs will be in Lander for their first conference games of the season. That’s a double header beginning at 3pm.

Saturday the 3rd they’re over in Sheridan for a double header beginning at 1pm.
