Community leaders gathered yesterday to celebrate a 100-year-old tradition.
On Tuesday evening, the Cody Chamber of Commerce hosted a light reception at the historic Chamberlin Inn to celebrate 100 years – to the day – of the first Cody Club Lunch Meeting. The Chamberlin Inn was specifically chosen as it was the site of that first meeting. The first Cody Club Luncheon was held on February 11, 1920 at the Chamberlin Inn. Evening meetings were held at the library during summer months, but the luncheon meetings seemed to bring better attendance, so they were resumed in the fall of that year. That tradition continues today.
Cody Club currently meets the first and third Monday of the month, excluding Monday holidays. The first Cody Club of the month is a traditional lunch meeting with a guest speaker. Those lunches are $15, payment by cash, check, yellow Cody Club cards, or Cody Club punch cards only please. The second Cody Club of the month is a ’roundtable’ format with a team of panelists that are proficient on the topic of the day will start the lunch and present their knowledge to the group, after which we will break down into tables to offer questions and answers or further discussion. Attendance for that is free.
Here’s to 100 years of community communication and growth, and to another century more of success in Cody.
