NOW THAT THE HOLIDAY BREAK IS OFFICIALLY BEHIND US THE CODY BRONCS BASKETBALL TEAM IS GETTING BACK INTO GAME ACTION. ON TUESDAY THE BRONCS FELL TO WORLAND 72-50 BUT DON’T HAVE MUCH TIME TO DWELL ON THE DEFEAT AS THEY GET SET FOR A PARK COUNTY RIVALRY RE-MATCH WITH POWELL TONIGHT AND HOST WYOMING INDIAN SATURDAY. HEAD COACH JAKE KRAFT ON WHAT HE WANTS TO SEE FROM THE PLAYERS WITH THE QUICK TURNAROUND BETWEEN GAMES.
“JUST SHOW MATURITY ON THE FLOOR. TAKE CARE OF THE BASKETBALL, NOT GET SPED UP, BE COMFORTABLE WITH THE BASKETBALL, MOVE OFF THE BASKETBALL. ON THE DEFENSIVE END, TO DO OUR JOB. YOU KNOW OUR ROTATIONS HAVE TO GET BETTER WHETHER WE’RE ZONE OR MAN. WE NEED TO GET UNDER 60 POINTS DEFENSIVELY IF WE WANT TO COMPETE.”
LAST TIME THAT CODY AND POWELL MET WAS BACK IN DECEMBER WHEN THE PANTHERS KNOCKED OFF THE BRONCS 62-61, THIS TIME AROUND CODY WILL LOOK TO PLAY SPOILER.
“YEAH, YOU KNOW OVERALL WE’RE YET TO GET A WIN AT THE VARSITY LEVEL. SO I KNOW OUR KIDS ARE HUNGRY, I KNOW THAT THEY’VE LEARNED FROM THEIR MISTAKES HERE OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF GAMES. LOSING TO POWELL THE WAY WE DID AT HOME WAS TOUGH, IN THE REIGNING MOMENTS, FINAL MOMENTS. SO I KNOW THE KIDS ARE EXCITED TO GET ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY AT POWELL.”
ON SATURDAY THE BRONCS WILL HOST THE NUMBER 2 TEAM IN CLASS 2A, WYOMING INDIAN. COACH KRAFT ON THAT MATCH-UP.
“YEAH, I MEAN WE’RE GETTING THE MATCH-UPS THAT HOPEFULLY WILL MAKE US BETTER IN THE LONG RUN AND WYOMING INDIAN IS NO DIFFERENT. WE’LL PROBABLY SEE SOMETHING LIKE WE SAW AGAINST WORLAND WITH SOME FULL-COURT PRESSURE AND TRAPPING. HOPEFULLY WE HAVE ENOUGH GAME SPEED OPPORTUNITIES LEADING UP TO THAT GAME, THAT WE’LL BE BETTER THAN WE WERE ON TUESDAY NIGHT.”
BOTH CODY BASKETBALL TEAMS TRAVEL TO POWELL TONIGHT FOR A PARK COUNTY RIVALRY MATCH-UP WITH THE GIRLS TO TIP-OFF FIRST AT 5:30PM, BOYS TO FOLLOW AT 7. ON SATURDAY BOTH CODY TEAMS WELCOME WYOMING INDIAN INTO THE SWEITZER GYM FOR AN AFTERNOON DOUBLE HEADER. GIRLS AT 1:30, BOYS AT 3PM. ALL THOSE GAMES CAN BE HEARD ON KODI.
