BLM Cody Office Looking to Purchase 1,800 Acres on Sheep Mountain

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a possible land acquisition.

The BLM Cody Field Office has analyzed the purchase of 1,820 acres of private land on top of Sheep Mountain. They have already received an appropriation for the purchase from the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The acquisition will improve public access for recreation opportunities and protect critical wildlife migration corridors. This purchase of just over 1,800 acres will improve access to the adjacent 17,000 acres of public land. But its also worth noting that this purchase will not result in a net gain of federal ownership within the Cody Field Office area.
