The Black Canyon boat-in camping site will be closed effective immediately due to continued bear activity.
The bears in the area continue to show little to no fear of human activity.
To decrease the chances of a human – bear conflict, the recreation area has decided to close the Black Canyon Campground effective September 6 for the remainder of the season.
The National Park Service reminds everyone who spends time outdoors to be bear aware while recreating in the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area.
