Barrasso, Senators Heading to Border

Wyoming U.S. Sen. John Barrasso was among a group of senators who left Thursday to observe firsthand the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Barrasso talked to Darian Dudrick on Thursday morning during KODI’s “Daybreak.”

“A group of senators are heading down to thank the border agents for what they’re doing everyday to try to keep us safe and our nation secure,” Barrasso told Dudrick, adding he and his colleagues are going to the southern tip of Texas, right at the border with Mexico.

“(We want) to see what kind of challenges they (border agents) are facing,” Barrasso added. “To go and take a look at some of the areas where people are being processed, (and) we want to see where the construction on the wall was stopped.”

There have been thousands of illegal immigrants who have crossed over into the U.S. already this year. It’s been reported that between 15,000 and 25,000 migrant children are currently in custody.

“We’re going … to do midnight patrol (at the border),” Barrasso said. “The senators are going to divide up and go out on patrol with the border agents.”
