Last week, Rawlins Troopers arrested a man on charges related to a shooting incident that occurred outside of Rawlins that left two people hospitalized.
On Wednesday, September 6, 73-year-old Melvin Leon Bagley, appeared in Carbon County Circuit Court on charges related to the case.
Bagley’s charges include two counts of 2nd Degree Attempted Murder, two counts of Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment and Reckless Driving.
Bagley remains in custody at the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office with a $500,000 cash bond.
In Rawlins on Sunday, September 3 around 12:41 p.m., Wyoming State Troopers arrested a man for attempted murder after the suspect shot a woman and another family member.
After the shooting, one of the victims called in to dispatch to report a man with a gun and fled the scene towards Rawlins.
When the victims left, the suspect followed them in a separate car. Troopers intercepted the vehicles and the suspect surrendered to law enforcement without incident. Emergency Medical Services transported the victims to the Carbon County Memorial Hospital, but due to the seriousness of the second victim’s injuries, they were transported to a trauma center.
Troopers arrested the suspect and charges are pending through the Carbon County Attorney’s Office Wyoming Highway Patrol also acknowledged the assistance of the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, Dispatch and EMS, along with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, as well as the Rawlins Police Department.
