Wyoming is trending in the wrong direction as COVID-19 cases increase by the day, and county health officials from all around the state are calling upon Governor Mark Gordon to take action and enact a mask mandate.
The vast majority of the state’s county health officers, the Wyoming Hospital Association, and Wyoming Medical society recently all agreed that some action must be taken to stop the rising COVID-19 cases. Together, they drafted a letter that was sent to Mark Gordon, which implores the Governor to put a mask mandate in place.
In this letter, they write, “Our numbers have continued to increase as many have disregarded our recommendations. Education and encouragement alone have not achieved desired outcomes. Our health care resources are becoming critically strained with hospitalizations and deaths increasing,”
While each individual county has the capability of instituting a mask mandate, the authors of the letter believe that a statewide mask mandate would be more effective, writing “We feel that a statewide mandate sends a more powerful and effective message in a more timely manner,”
