Admiral Beverage Provides Refrigerated Truck to Food from the Field

Worland’s Admiral Beverage has partnered with First Lady Jennie Gordon and Star Valley Meat Block to end Wyoming food insecurity with Wyoming game and a refrigerated truck.

As part of the First Lady’s Wyoming Hunger Initiative, the new Food from the Field program will see meat from deer, elk, and moose donated by Wyoming’s hunter and enter the state’s food bank system.

Star Valley Meat Block and Cold Storage in Afton was the first meat processor to get on board with the new program. They will hold the donated carcasses in cold storage until they are tested and confirmed to be free of Chronic Wasting Disease.

But hunting seasons often see processors reach capacity and run out of cold storage. That’s where Admiral Beverage has stepped up.

They are providing a truck, driver, and fuel to the Food from the Field program at no charge. The truck will be transported to Star Valley Meat Block’s facilities, and serve as additional cold storage for the meat that will eventually make its way to Wyoming residents in need.

First Lady Jennie Gordon says, “this kind of generosity demonstrates the level to which Wyoming residents are committed to taking care of their neighbors.”

The Wyoming Hunger Initiative seeks to find and support Wyoming solutions to the challenge of food insecurity, which affects approximately 71,000 residents statewide.

The Food from the Field program is a significant step in the mission, and Admiral Beverage and Star Valley Meat Block are doing their part to ensure Wyoming doesn’t go hungry.
