Big Horn Basin Media is proud to welcome a new voice to your mornings on KODI, Daniel Rasmussen.
Originally from suburban Barrington, Illinois, Daniel grew up about an hour outside of Chicago, where he developed a strong work ethic early on. In high school, he balanced leadership roles as both an editor of the school newspaper and captain of the wrestling team, two passions that would shape his future in storytelling and discipline.
Daniel went on to study engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago, where he also gave back to his community by mentoring students at an inner-city middle school. His love for wrestling continued as well, volunteering as a coach for youth and high school teams in his hometown.
In September 2024, a visit to Cody, Wyoming changed everything.
What started as a short trip to see a former teammate quickly turned into something more. Daniel fell in love with the community, the people, the lifestyle, and decided to make Cody home. He soon joined the Cody Enterprise as a reporter, where he spent a year telling the stories that matter most to the Big Horn Basin. During that time, he also embraced local culture in a hands-on way, working as a finish man for a Cody farrier every Friday.
Beyond journalism, Daniel brings a unique blend of technical skill and curiosity. He has contributed to projects with the tech nonprofit DeepAudit, writing code to help analyze large volumes of educational materials, work that reflects his analytical mindset and commitment to meaningful impact.
Now, he’s bringing that same energy, insight, and authenticity to the airwaves.
Since joining Big Horn Basin Media in March 2026, Daniel has stepped into the role of News Director and Morning Show Host on KODI. He’s ready to wake up the Basin with local news, conversation, and a fresh perspective each day.
When he’s not behind the mic, you’ll likely find Daniel lifting weights, exploring the Wyoming outdoors, or sharpening his skills in Brazilian jiu-jitsu at Potter’s Combat Academy.
