A project that was first proposed in Powell in 2006 is finally making some headway.
The application to the Wyoming Business Council for a hotel and convention center in Powell was first submitted thirteen years ago – but is finally set to break ground this spring. Christine Bekes, director of the Powell Economic Partnership, points out that the ten-million-dollar project will be a huge boost to the economy of both Powell and Cody.
Bekes says that the hotelier who is behind the public-private partnership project, Steve Wahrlich, is based in Montana, but is committed to investing in this area.
Bekes adds that they expect to break ground on the property on the west side of Powell in June, with an opening date expected in 2020.
