The Park County Archives is an ideal place to research the history of Cody and the county.
One of the main reasons?
Convenience.
The archives – located in the Park County Public Library building (website) – features about 2,000 different subject files, archivist Robyn Cutter said Wednesday morning on KODI’s “Speak Your Piece with Darian Dudrick.”
“They (travelers) have 15 minutes, maybe an hour at best. They don’t have all day, because they want to see all the other things there are to see in our area,” Cutter said, providing an example of why there are so many files.
“So being able to jump in, pick up a file, pull the stuff, make the copies, let them take pictures of it on their phone … the faster we can do that for them, the happier they are.”
People can find what they’re looking for through a variety of subjects – from agriculture, buildings, businesses, organizations, to ranches, recreation and schools. Other topics include the Cody Stampede, movie productions and murders.
