23rd Annual Buffalo Feast to be Held This Thursday

The 23rd Annual Buffalo Feast is this Thursday at Northwest College.

The event is structured to be an educational exposure to the culture of the Plains Indians tribes, and it’s always held during Native American Heritage Month. The feast includes buffalo brisket, Three Sister soup, Bannock bread and other foods indigenous to the Americas.  Amy McKinney, Associate Professor of History at Northwest College explains that Three Sister soup is a staple food of indigenous culture – corn, squash and beans would grow together and each crop was a foundation of their diet.

After dinner, a performance will be given by Willie LeClair, a rodeo announcer and storyteller and a member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe of the Wind River Reservation.

The 23rd Annual Buffalo Feast is Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6-8 p.m. in the Yellowstone Building Conference Center. Tickets for this event are still available but limited. Those who wish to attend are encouraged to contact Amy McKinney at Amy.McKinney@nwc.edu or 307-754-6008.
