Megan Degenfelder, the Superintendent of Public Instruction for the state of Wyoming, came to Cody High School on her “Tour of Excellence” and spoke with teachers, students and administrators. She also had a surprise announcement. Wyoming’s top educator announced the winner of Teacher of the Year for the Cowboy State. The honor went to John Corbin who teaches Social Studies at CHS and believes that “all students should learn about the history and government of our country.”
During her visit, Ms. Degenfelder spoke to teachers and administrators about the “We The People” civics program that is offered at CHS. Also, Superintendent Degenfelder toured CHS, focusing on Classroom 2 Careers, Active Learning Spaces, and the CTE programs.
The Superintendent also visited with Mac Watson from “Mac in the Morning” on KODI. Mac asked her about testing policies, state and national rankings as far as testing, school safety, and a new report that says absenteeism is at an all-time high.
