This morning U.S. Senator John Barrasso was re-elected chairman of the Senate Republican Conference for the 117th Congress.
Barrasso talked about his appreciation for being re-elected along with the immense honor it was to get the chance to work with Cynthia Lummis saying, “I appreciate the opportunity to continue as chairman of the Republican Conference for the next two years. We have four new members, who were part of the conference discussions today. They are great additions, and I’m especially happy to have Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming joining me. She is the first woman elected to the United States Senate from Wyoming, in our 130 years as a state.”
Barrasso also shared his thoughts on how the election season went as a whole: “We did learn some lessons from this election, that there was a rejection of this very liberal approach by the Democrats far to the left, they’ve rejected defund the police, rejected expanding the size of the Supreme Court beyond the nine, they’ve rejected forcing us to stop producing American energy.”
More than anything Barrasso stays true to his beliefs and standards and he made that abundantly clear talking about peoples jobs and peoples kids. Barrasso wants the public to be back where they need to be and feel safe doing so.
The Senator also briefly discussed the ongoing election in Georgia and its magnitude but remained steadfast in his confidence of a victory there as well.
Barrasso is currently the most senior junior Republican in the Senate. He will become the state’s senior Senator and dean of the Wyoming congressional delegation upon Enzi’s scheduled end-of-term retirement on January 3, 2021.
The Wyoming Republican won 90% of the vote back in 2012 against his three opponent nominees.
