Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Spring is Business as Usual

COVID-19 isn’t stopping Wyoming Game and Fish from doing its job to conserve our state’s wildlife.

Work on the Department’s spring projects continues regardless of the statewide lock-downs. Pete Dube, president of the Game and Fish Commission, has firmly state they have no plans to cancel the fall hunting seasons, so one of their priorities is to set the 2020 seasons and quotas. Drawings will take place this spring, as was originally planned. This will all be in the agenda for the next Commission meeting, April 20th – 21st, which will be held online.

Regular springtime operations also proceed uninterrupted. 104,947 fish have been stocked in 20 waters throughout Wyoming – a very small part of the projected 7.2 million fish they intend to stock in 450 waters this year. Pheasant chicks will soon be hatching at the Game and Fish bird farms in Sheridan and Yoder for the fall pheasant season. The two farms combined raise 36,000 birds every year.

Commission President Dube says they are planning on Wyoming’s wildlife resources being available for all to be open and on display in 2020, and will be doing everything they can to keep Wyoming open for hunting, fishing and wildlife enjoyment.
