The National Finals Rodeo got over with on Saturday in Arlington, TX where the Cowboy State performed well and showcased why we are the rodeo capitol of the world even if not voted as such. Brody Cress maintained his ranking of 3rd in the world in standings winning $173, 846 with $15, 654 being earned frim a score of 90.5 in the saddle bronc placing him 3rd in the 10 round competition.
Staying in the saddle bronc, Zeke Thurston, student at Sheridan College, ended up 9th in the world world earning $141, 260 and scored an 87 earning him 4th in the 10 round competition.
Shorty Garret out of Casper College ended up with no money on the saddle bronc scoring an 83.5 but concluded his season 8th in the average and 10th in the world standings. Cole Elshere, the Gillette native, closed at 13th in the international standings but did not score in the final round of the saddle bronc.
Kaycee’s Cole Reiner was the man making headlines a lot of the week at his first ever NFR winning two of the 10 rounds in the bareback. Reiner’s 6th ranked average earned him $16, 500 and that brought him to $154, 325 in earnings on the year placing him 5th in the world.
Central Wyoming College Graduate, Stetson Jorgenson ended up with a 5.0 in the 10th round of the steer wrestling which may have cost him the world championship. Jorgenson ended 2nd in earnings with $192, 830 with $54, 577 of that coming from his average being the 2nd best at the NFR. Jorgenson was just $1, 680 behind 1st place earner Jacob Elder.
