Work Starts Next Week North of Cody

Work will begin next week to repair humps on a portion of WYO 120 north of Cody.

Cody Beers, Wyoming Department of Transportation District 5 public relations specialist, talked about the project Tuesday morning on KODI’s “Speak Your Piece with Darian Dudrick.”

“There are three settlement areas on the highway out toward the intersection of 120 and 296 (Chief Joseph Scenic Highway),” Beers said. “As everybody drives toward Billings, you know where those areas are … the big humps in the road. That roadway has moved around.”

Beers added WYDOT has done some maintenance work on that portion of the highway the last four or five years, but now, “we’re going to come in and try to deal with that compacting bentonite-type soil and create a new roadway in three areas.”

The project, along with some other work in that area, is scheduled to be completed in October.
