What to do with your Dog on 4th of July?

The 4th of July is such a wonderful holiday because it is different than all the others. The outside feel, the grills cooking, family and friends, cornhole, everything we love about America in one holiday and we are blessed enough to spend it in the wonderful town of Cody.

One of the few downsides to the 4th of July is that our furry friends can get some serious anxiety and stress from the fireworks. To our little pals, it could seem like bombs going off outside.

As this is my first go-round on the 4th with a dog of my own, I have been wanting to figure out some ways to make this day a little less stressful on my pet.

The Park County Animal Shelter’s Facebook page had a wonderful rubric to not only what can happen to our dogs, but how to prevent them.

I didn’t realize how many dogs actually try and run away due to the loud sounds from the fireworks. To have that many dogs lost on the 4th because of us not doing our due diligence to make sure they can be a little relaxed and feel safe is a problem.

Let’s be a town this year that strives to make our pets feel A-okay on our nation’s holiday!
