A clearer picture of the upcoming Sheridan Avenue project was literally presented at last night’s meeting.
Representatives from the Wyoming Department of Transportation and S&S Construction gave several Cody residents, mainly store owners along Sheridan, an idea of the intensity and timeline of the construction project set to begin on March 2nd. There was a lot of information to process, but what are the essentials you need to know?
The project will be replacing concrete “panels” in the road along with every corner on every intersection to bring them up to ADA compliance. There will only ever be single or double lane closures, so traffic will always be moving on Sheridan for the entire duration. While you can still drive Sheridan, taking alternate streets like Beck and Rumsey. This is especially true when it comes to parking, however, which will be extremely limited in front of the affected stores.
The current timeline assumes ideal conditions throughout construction, but construction will stop June 15th, regardless of the progress made. There won’t be so much as a traffic cone on Sheridan for the majority of the summer. Many of the contractors are Cody natives; they understand the fears and repercussions of lost business and are doing everything they can to minimize their presence while still getting the work done.
The first step: anticipate the closure of Northside traffic between 10th and 11th Streets on March 2nd.
KODI will be updating you on this project and its progress for the duration. Keep tuning on and checking out the stories posted on mybighornbasin.com.
