The Wyoming Cowboys will face their biggest foe, the Colorado State Rams tonight, Thursday November 5th in what is called “The Border War.”
The Border War dates back to 1899, with the trophy of the whole shebang being the “Bronze Boot, which didn’t originate until 1968.
With such a rich history between the two teams, Wyoming has taken control recently with winning the past four meeting and 7 out of the last 10.
To make it five in a row tonight, they will have to rely on the now starting redshirt Freshman Quarterback Levi Williams who had to come in for the original starter Sean Chambers. Chambers suffered a broken fibula against Nevada just four plays into the season. Williams fill in performance was admirable as he almost led the team to a shootout win against the Wolfpack but ended up with a 37-34 loss in OT.
That score is a complete juxtaposition of last week against Hawaii where the Cowpokes were able to get the win handedly 31-7.
Tonight will be a night to watch the Wyoming defense as they have allowed to over 260 passing yards a game in the first two contests. The run defense has looked more formidable allowing just under 100 yards on the ground so far per game.
Colorado State has only played one game due to their week 1 matchup against New Mexico University being cancelled cause of positive COVID-19 tests NMU had.
In the Rams first contest they also had two quarterbacks that played a good amount of snaps with Todd Centeio and Patrick O’Brien. In total they combined for 223 yards passing in their 38-17 loss to Fresno State.
The game will kickoff at 7 PM Mountain Time tonight on the CBS Sports Network.
And remember everybody, it ALWAYS sucks to be a CSU Ram.
