Another out-of-state winter enthusiast needed the help of Park County Search and Rescue.
At 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, the Park County Sheriff’s Office got the call of a snowmobile accident in the Beartooth Mountains just west of Beartooth Lake. Sandy Seright, age 69 of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho was snowmobiling with a group when he struck a rock with his snowmobile resulting in a compound fracture of his left arm above the elbow.
Search and Rescue and the Wilderness Medical Team from Cody Regional Hospital mobilized to get to the scene. But for this task, four members of the SAR volunteer Snow Team were called. T
he Snow Team are a group of local snowmobilers from the Cody Snowmobile Association who have stepped up to add their snowmobiling expertise to SAR in case they are needed.
The Snow Team reached Seright around 2:15 p.m. He was stabilized, packaged, and transported via an ambulance sled to Search and Rescue and the Wilderness Medical Team, who met them half way at 3:35 p.m. By 4:15 p.m., Seright was in an ambulance headed to Cody Regional Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
This could be considered double duty for Search and Rescue. Just like week they evacuated ice climber Richard Dvorak from the Broken Heart ice flow after he fell and badly broke his pelvic area. He was able to thank the agency via Facebook from his recovery room at the Billings Clinic.
