The Northwest Civic Orchestra takes the stage on Saturday, December 7 for a festive holiday concert titled “Joy to the World”. The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Nelson Performing Arts Auditorium at Northwest College, and tickets will only be available at the door. Prices are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, and children are admitted free of charge.
Concert goers can expect to be entertained with a selection of well-known and traditional season classics such as White Christmas, O Come Emmanuel, Carol of the Bells, Sleigh Ride, and I’ll Be Home for Christmas.
The schedule includes collections such as “The Bells of Christmas”, featuring Ding Dong! Merrily on High!, The Bell Carol, Silver Bells, I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day, and Jingle Bells; “A Christmas Festival” with Joy to the World, Deck the Halls, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Good King Wenceslas, Hark! The Herald Angeles Sing, Silent Night, and O Come All Ye Faithful; and “A Canadian Brass Christmas”.
Music from various holiday movies will also be presented, including Miracle on 34th Street, The Polar Express, Somewhere in My Memory, Making Christmas, and Where Are You Christmas?.
Several other holiday hits are included in the night’s program as well, and a reception with light refreshments will follow the performance.
