KODI Guest: Don’t Support Constitutional Convention

A John Birch Society field coordinator said Monday morning on KODI’s “Daybreak with Darian Dudrick,” Wyoming should not support any Constitutional Convention legislation.

Leah Southwell talked to Dudrick about the risks of opening the Constitution for such things as imposing term limits for members of Congress, capping federal spending and balancing the budget. She said there’s no guarantee that action would be limited to just those issues.

Two convention of states bills – HJ 12 and SJ 2 – have been introduced in the Wyoming Legislature.

Under Article Five of the Constitution, Congress would call a convention only if two-thirds of the states (34) applied. But it would take 38 states to ratify new amendments.

It’s been reported that 15 states have already passed convention bills.
