IN HIS FINAL YEAR AS A CODY CUB, JARED GRENZ ACHIEVED SOMETHING VERY FEW ATHLETES GET TO EXPERIENCE, ENDING HIS CAREER A STATE CHAMPION. NOT ONLY DID THE CUBS WIN THE STATE A CHAMPIONSHIP. JARED WAS VOTED CO-PLAYER OF THE YEAR IN CLASS A. GRENZ WAS A HUGE FACTOR IN THE 2020 CODY CUBS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON HITTING .452 TO LEAD THE TEAM AND LED THEM IN DOUBLES WITH 23. THERE WERE A LOT OF UPS AND DOWNS THROUGH THE YEAR, FROM NOT KNOWING IF THEY WOULD EVEN HAVE A SEASON, TO FULL GO, PLAYING 60 GAMES IN LESS THAN 60 DAYS. JARED SAYS HE’S THANKFUL AND BLESSED TO FINISH OUT ONE FINAL SEASON WITH THE CUBS.
“YEAH, AFTER COVID IT WAS REALLY NICE TO GET OUT WITH SOME FRIENDS AND PLAY A GAME THAT WE ALL REALLY LIKE. BASEBALL WAS A GOOD THING TO GET AWAY FROM ALL THE OUTSIDE WORLD AND STUFF. IT WAS JUST A LOT OF FUN.”
NOW, JARED IS BACK AT COLORADO MESA PREPPING FOR HIS FUTURE, WHERE HE PLANS TO FINISH OUT HIS PLAYING CAREER.
“YEAH, HOPEFULLY I PLAY ALL MY YEARS AT MESA AND FIND SOME GOOD PLAYING TIME. AFTER THAT I’M NOT REALLY SURE.”
JARED GOES ON TO TALK ABOUT HIS DEGREE OF CHOICE AND WHY HE’S TAKEN THAT PATH.
“KINESIOLOGY. SO TO BE LIKE A PHYSICAL THERAPIST. I JUST DIDN’T WANT TO BE SITTING AT A DESK ALL DAY AND I’VE BEEN IN THE PHYSICAL THERAPY ROOM PLENTY. I JUST KIND OF LIKE WHAT THEY DO AND HOPEFULLY I CAN HELP SOMEONE TOO.”
AS FOR HIS TIME IN CODY, GOING TO SCHOOL AND GROWING UP HERE JARED HAS FOND MEMORIES.
“HIGH SCHOOL WAS FUN. EVERYONE HERE IS REALLY NICE. THE SMALL TOWN ATMOSPHERE WAS NICE CAUSE YOU KNEW EVERYONE AND MADE SOME PRETTY GOOD FRIENDS.”
AND TO PLAY WITH THIS GROUP OF GUYS ONE LAST TIME MEANT EVERYTHING TO HIM.
“YEAH AFTER LAST YEAR, NOT KNOWING IF I’D COME BACK IT WAS REALLY NICE TO COME BACK AND HAVE ONE LAST GO ROUND WITH THESE GUYS. JUST KEEP PLAYING. HOPEFULLY STAY IN TOUCH LATER ON.”
JARED GRENZ IS BACK IN COLORADO MESA WHERE HE’LL BE SPENDING PLENTY OF TIME ON THE DIAMOND. STAY TUNED TO THE BIG HORN RADIO NETWORK FOR MORE ON CODY ATHLETICS.
