Information Sought on Worland Mule Deer Poacher

Worland’s warden is seeking information on a probable poaching.

Last week, some anglers reported a buck mule deer that had been illegally shot and killed. Worland Game Warden Matt Lentsch responded to the site – the deer was located near the bridge going over Fifteen Mile Creek, just south of Worland. The scene more reminiscent of a murder than your traditional poaching. The deer was field dressed and partially wrapped in plastic, and its head was completely removed. Lentsch’s investigation of the scene and carcass points to the deer being shot sometime around 4th of July weekend. At this point, there’s no more information on who is responsible.

The case is now being handed out of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department office in Cody, as the deer was shot illegally and out of season. Any information on this incident that could led to a suspect is highly sought after. It even carries a possible reward. Callers can remain anonymous, if they wish, but any information leading to the arrest and conviction may result in a reward of up to $5,000. With that incentive, what’s stopping you from calling in some justice?

Anyone with possible information regarding this incident, or who was in the area and may have noted suspicious vehicles or activities, is encouraged to call Worland Game Warden Matt Lentsch at 307-347-3650, the Cody Game and Fish office at 307-527-7125 or the Stop Poaching Hotline at 1-877-WGFD-TIP (1-877-943-3847).
