The Cody Filly softball team stayed hot this weekend when they traveled to Casper going 3-1.
The weekend began with a defiant sweep against Natrona winning game one 19-15 and game two 15-7.
It was the second inning of the first game where the bats struck lighting for the Fillies getting five girls all the way around the diamond. They were able to do so by parceled, consistent hitting, and getting on base. This has been the recipe all season for the Cody girls.
Natrona made it interesting at the end of the first game but the Fillies held tight and closed the game out with two doubles from Ally Schroeder and Ava Meier.
In the second game, the bats stayed hitting on all cylinders as the Fillies scored 15 runs off of nine hits. The Fillies had to hold off Natrona again from coming back but persevered through a couple of bad sequences in the second game to get the sweep.
Their next doubleheader of the weekend was against what is a top-ranked Kelly Walsh team where the Fillies handed them their first loss of the season. That game was also the most runs Kelly Walsh had allowed in the season winning 9-7 off of 14 hits.
The first game against Kelly Walsh could have gone better as it was a 10 run rule game ending 10-0 in five innings.
The Fillies are now 8-1 and will travel to Worland on Tuesday to take on the Lady Warriors.
