On Saturday it was announced that a pair of Cody Athletes, Kennedi Niemann and Luke Talich, have received the prestigious Wilford Mower Award. The Mower award is presented to the most outstanding male and female senior student athlete in Class 3A/4A in the Northwest Quadrant. They are the fist Cody athletes to receive the honor since Baylee Stafford in 2020.
Talich has been a standout for the Broncs for 4 years, playing football, basketball and running track.
He’s helped lead the Cody Bronc Football team to 2 State Championships. In 2021 he led the Broncs to their first undefeated season in program history.
Niemann has been a standout for the Fillies for 4 years, playing volleyball, basketball and soccer.
Niemann helped lead the Cody Filly basketball team to their first ever State Title in program history, this year. The Fillies finished the season a perfect 25-0.
Niemann and Talich will now be up for consideration for the Milward Simpson Award, which is given to the top male and female student-athlete in the state. It is considered the most prestigious honor a high school student-athlete can win in Wyoming.
