Cody’s Annual Rendezvous Royale Coming in September

The town’s biggest art event is set to kickoff September 18 – 23. The Rendezvous Royale is a multi-day event that includes an auction of contemporary western art, a Quick Draw event, seminars and studio tours.

The celebration leads up to the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale showcasing stylistic interpretations of the American West, followed by the elegant Patron’s Ball.

“From the street sculptures that line Sheridan Avenue to the town’s numerous galleries, I am surrounded by our destination’s world-class art every day of the year,” said Ryan Hauck, executive director of Cody Yellowstone.

Cody was lauded by USA Today in a list of the Top Small Town Art Scenes earlier this summer.

Hauck said, “Cody’s heritage of art can be traced to almost a century ago, when New York heiress Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney created The Scout, a massive sculpture of Buffalo Bill Cody on horseback.”

The Scout, the cornerstone of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s Whitney Art Museum will be turning 100 years old next year.

The Whitney Art Museum is a world renowned art museum that will be celebrating a milestone next year too; its 65th birthday. The Whitney is known for its works by famous Western artists Charlie Russell, Frederic Remington, Thomas Moran, Albert Bierstadt, and many more.
