The Cody Senior Center is taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of Cody’s seniors.
When it was revealed that a staff member had had recent exposure to someone being tested for COVID-19, it was decided that this was not an opportunity to take chances. Jenni Johnstone-Smith, executive director of the Cody Senior Center, decided that more immediate action needed to be taken. Not wanting to risk the safety of any staff or seniors and only hours way from reopening for meals, they halted their plans and reverted to curbside dining – which they have become quite good at recently. Smith consulted with Park County Public Health Officer Dr. Aaron Billin and Park County Public Health Nurse Bill Crampton, who agreed this was the most prudent decision possible.
There’s no definitive reopening date set. The Cody Senior Center board will be meeting sometime next week and that will be the primary topic of discussion. This step back is unfortunate but it’s the surest way to ensure everyone’s safety.
The Thrift Barn will still be open in a limited capacity, and will also be limiting the donations it receives. Donations will only be accepted Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays from 12 – 2 pm, to ensure all the items get the special attention they need, to keep shoppers safe, and to make sure they aren’t further inundated with items.
