Cody Celebrates the Last Day of School – With No Internet

Cody schools will be spending the final day of the most unorthodox school year in recent memory without any internet in any schools due to a Casper-area fire.

Park County School District #6 sent a text message to all Cody – area parents at 7:03 a.m. on Friday, May 28. There is an ironic twist to the final day of the 2020-2021 school year.

“Happy last day of school. Currently, the district does not have internet service. A fire in Casper has taken out the state circuit. There is no ETA for getting our internet back online at this time. Phones should still be working within the district so you can make and receive calls.”

The message was sent by Tim Foley, Assistant Superintendent (C&I, Assessment, Technology, Federal Grants.) Foley says he will send out updates as additional information comes into the district office.

It’s one last trick up the sleeve of the 2020-2021 school year – but students and staff have bravely weathered every challenge during a challenging time, locally and nationally.

There’s no information on where the Casper fire occurred nor how it started.

Phone calls should still be able to get through. Parents and concerned residents can reach Park County School District #6 at (307) 587-4283.
