The Cody Broncs Football team played in their fifth straight State Championship last Friday at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie.
Cody came into the game with wins over Torrington and Douglas in the Wyoming 3A playoffs.
The Broncs would face the Star Valley Braves for the third year in a row in the State Championship.
Star Valley came into the game with wins over Lander and Riverton in the playoffs.
The Braves would get a 20-7 win over the Broncs, but the game was much closer than the score.
Cody rushed the ball 30 times for 141 yards, and Star Valley 45 times for 147 yards.
The Broncs passed the ball 25 times completing 12 passes for 123 yards, and Star Valley passed the ball 15 times completing 10 for 131 yards.
Cody ran 55 plays for 264 yards, and Star Valley ran 60 for 278 yards.
Cody lost 1 fumble recovered by Star Valley.
In time of possession, the Broncs had the ball 15:02 of the game, Star Valley had the ball 32:58 of the game.

Grady McCarten ran the ball 11 times for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Star Valley’s Grant Thomson ran the ball 18 times for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Maddax Ball was 12 for 25 and 123 yards, and Star Valley’s Smith McClure was 9 for 14 and 97 yards.
Trey Smith caught 6 passes for 70 yards, and Star Valley’s Bryson Nield caught 5 balls for 24 yards.
Chase Hatch had 10 tackles, Casche McFadden had 8 tackles, Owen Petersen had 8 tackles, Jarom Beardahl had 6 tackles and a pass breakup, and Grady McCarten had 6 tackles.
The Broncs finished the season 9-2 and the Wyoming 3A Football Runner-Up.
