Area Athletes Sign on to Compete at Next Level

WYATT WYMAN OF WORLAND HIGH SCHOOL HAS SIGNED ON TO PLAY SOCCER AT CASPER COLLEGE.

WYMAN HELPED HIS WARRIORS TEAM WIN THE 2019 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, THEIR SECOND STRAIGHT. WYMAN WAS AN ALL-STATE SELECTION IN BOTH OF THOSE YEARS AS A MIDFIELDER.

WYMAN WAS ALSO A PART OF THE WORLAND BASKETBALL TEAM WHO FINISHED THE SEASON WITH ONE LOSS AND WERE REGIONAL TOURNAMENT CHAMPS.

CASPER COLLEGE WILL BE ROLLING OUT SOCCER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY THIS FALL.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN’S TEAGAN TOWNSEND WILL CONTINUE HER BASKETBALL JOURNEY AT DICKINSON STATE, AN NAIA SCHOOL IN NORTH DAKOTA. TOWNSEND IS A 3-TIME ALL-STATE SELECTION AND AVERAGED 13 POINTS PER GAME THIS PAST SEASON FOR THE GRIZZLIES, SHOOTING 53% FROM THE FLOOR AND 72% FROM THE FREE-THROW LINE. SHE ALSO AVERAGED 3.6 ASSISTS AND 3.3 STEALS PER CONTEST. HER TEAM WENT 21-7 IN 2019-20 AND QUALIFIED FOR THE 2A STATE TOURNAMENT.

TOWNSEND HAD A SEASON-HIGH 25 POINTS AGAINST RIVERSIDE AND 23 VS. LANDER.

TOWNSEND IS ALSO AN ALL-STATE VOLLEYBALL PLAYER AND ALSO COMPETED IN THE 2019 STATE TRACK MEET IN THE 100 AND 300-METER HURDLES. DICKINSON STATE WENT 8-20 LAST YEAR AND HAS 2 OTHER WYOMING HIGH SCHOOL PRODUCTS ON THE ROSTER. SHELBY WARDEL FROM LOVELL AND MCKENZIE REED FROM FARSON-EDEN.

THERMOPOLIS RUNNER MCKENNA BOMENGEN WILL BE TAKING HER SKILLS NORTH TO HELANA, MONTANA TO COMPETE FOR NAIA CARROLL COLLEGE. IN CROSS COUNTRY, BOMENGEN IS A 4-TIME ALL-STATE SELECTION WITH 4 TOP 10 FINISHES. SHE TOOK 8TH AT THE STATE MEET IN 2019, 8TH IN 2018, 7TH IN 2017 AND 9TH AS A FRESHMAN IN 2016.

BOMENGEN ALSO MADE A NAME FOR HERSELF IN TRACK AND FIELD WITH TOP 10 FINISHES AT THE 3A STATE TRACK MEET IN THE 800-METER RUN, AS WELL AS THE 1600 AND THE 3200. SHE TOOK 7TH IN THE 800, 5TH IN THE 1600 AND 8TH IN THE 3200 IN 2019. BOMENGEN MADE SUBSTANTIAL IMPROVEMENTS IN THE 800, AND THE 1600 FROM HER SOPHOMORE TO JUNIOR SEASONS.

THIS 3 SPORT ATHLETE WAS AN ALL-CONFERENCE BASKETBALL PLAYER AS SHE AVERAGED 10 POINTS A GAME FOR HER BOBCAT SQUAD.

ONE OF THE MOST GIFTED ATHLETES IN THE STATE, BAYLEE STAFFORD OF CODY HAS COMMITTED TO RUN AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING. SHE HAS EXCELLED IN CROSS COUNTRY AS SHE PLACED 3RD AT THE 3A STATE MEET IN 2019 AS HER TEAM WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. STAFFORD ALSO FINISHED 3RD AT THE STATE MEET IN 2018 AND 2017 WITH A 7TH PLACE FINISH AS A FRESHMAN IN 2016.

STAFFORD ALSO RAN INDOOR TRACK THIS PAST SEASON BUT IS A VERSATILE ATHLETE, TO SAY THE LEAST. SHE IS A 3-TIME ALL-STATE SOCCER PLAYER AS CODY IS THE 3-TIME STATE CHAMPIONS IN 3A, INCLUDING A 3-0 WIN OVER BUFFALO IN THE 2019 TITLE MATCH.
